This Earth Day, help us save the bees!

Earth Day is coming up! April 21st is coming up quickly, and here at Rows and Roses, we are ready for it. We've been researching ways to help save the bees this year, and what better way than by sponsoring a hive with The Honeybee Conservancy?

The Earth Day Mini has opened for ordering today, and we will be using some of the proceeds toward helping our buzzing friends. If the mini sells at least $400, we will be sponsoring a Leaf Cutter Bee hive. If it reaches $600, we will be sponsoring a Mason Bee hive. This buy is only open for 48 hours, so hurry right now and place your order!

This little video will show you all the things we're offering. Also, each package will also receive a special bonus, as stated in the video. Lot's to love, and lots of ways to help support our beloved bees! I hope to see you all at the mini, going on RIGHT NOW!!

Candy Corn Sack- **FREE PATTERN**

Here at Rows and Roses, we're all so excited for cooler weather and scary good times. I created this pattern for Halloween this year, for my kids and for a round of Halloween specials that just recently closed in my group. I never publish free patterns, so I thought I'd spread a little spooky fun and share it with you :)

One thing, though: please make sure that if you choose to share this pattern with your friends (and I sure hope you will!) that you only provide a link to this blog or to the pattern on Ravelry. Writing a pattern takes a long time and always makes me want to cry a little, so please never claim a pattern as your own or copy & paste any part of it. Always link!

Candy Corn Sack

Materials:(1) skein I Love This Yarn (Hobby Lobby brand) in "Ivory" (40 yards)
(1) skein I Love This Yarn in "Desert Glaze" (75 yards)
(1) skein I Love This Yarn in "Yellow" (90 yards)
Hook- size 7 (gauge isn't important, so whatever makes a good fabric for you)

Stitches Used:
Chain (ch)
Single crochet (sc)
Slip stitch (sl st)
Increase (inc) two sc in next st
Decrease (dec) pull up a loop in each of the next 2 sts, yo and pull through all 3                        loops on hook
Half double crochet (hdc) In this pattern, these are only worked INTO THE                                              STITCH BELOW. This is to create a thick, sturdy,                                              reinforced handle.

The way I work up this bag is by putting 2 increases, an equal distance apart, into every round. This forms a nice, slow flare, making the triangle shape not too deep and not too shallow. I work in a spiral, so no joining rounds (until close to the end.) I use a stitch marker near the beginning of the rounds just so I know where I am.

Let's get started!

With Ivory:
Ch 4. Join with sl st to form a ring.
6 sc in center of ring. DO NOT JOIN, here and throughout until instructed.
*Inc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts* twice. = 8sc
*Inc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts* twice. = 10sc
*Inc in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts* twice. = 12sc

Continue in this manner until you have 50 sc around, or, as I prefer to count my sections separately, 25 sc from one inc to the next.

Change to Desert Glaze in last st.

With Desert Glaze:
*Inc in next st, sc in each of the next 24 sts* twice. = 52sc
*Inc in next st, sc in each of the next 25 sts* twice. = 54sc

Continue in this manner, remembering to move your stitch marker each time it starts to shift too much, until you have 90 sc, or 45 sc from one inc to the next.

Change to Yellow in last st.

With Yellow:
*Inc in the next st, sc in each of the next 44 sts* twice. = 92sc
*Inc in the next st, sc in each of the next 45 sts* twice. = 94sc

Continue for 3 more rounds, until you have 100 sc around, or 50 sc from one inc to the next.

NOW YOU WILL JOIN by slipping into the next st (which would be the first st of the next round.)
Ch 1.
Now you're starting the even, joined rounds.
*sc around. Join with sl st. Ch 1.* 5 times altogether. You now have 5 even joined rounds of 100 sc.

Time to start the handles!
Still with Yellow:
sc 15, ch 28, skip 20 sts, sc 30, ch 28, skip 20 sts, sc in 15. Join.

Now we will work 3 rounds of sc, while decreasing at the places where the handles "join" the bag.

*sc in each st to 1 sc before ch, dec in next sc and 1st ch, sc in each ch to last ch, dec in next ch and 1st sc after ch* twice, sc in remaining sts. Join. = 112sc

*sc in each st until 1 sc before dec, dec in next sc and dec, sc in each st to dec, dec in dec and next sc* twice, sc in remaining sts. Join. = 108sc

Repeat previous round. = 104sc

To finish up, we're going to work a final round of hdc, working into the stitches one row below. THESE ARE THE STITCHES YOU JUST WORKED INTO ON THE PREVIOUS ROUND. This creates a thick reinforced ridge at the top of the handles.

hdc in each PREVIOUS st around, skipping the decreases altogether. (You will see where the decreases from the previous row are, there will be 3 "holes" in which you can place a stitch. You will hdc into the first "hole," skip the second, and hdc into the third. If reading this doesn't make much sense, it will once you're actually doing it. Don't worry, keep going <3 )  = 104hdc

That's it! You're all finished! Grab a yarn needle and weave in your ends, then go collect as much candy as possible <3

R&R Grand Reopening 2017

Happy New Year!
Man, 2016 sure sucked, didn't it? We lost some amazing talent, with Lemmy hitting the heavenly highway just 4 days before the turn of the new year, followed by David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Merle Haggard, Gene Wilder, and Prince, just to name a few. I don't know about you, but I'm ready to go more than 5 minutes without a new genius to mourn.

This year WILL be better! I can feel it. And I'm going to start things off with some lovely items at some awesome prices. Get ready to warm up in the new year :)

I have put together all of the specials, with easy instructions for ordering, into an even in my Rows and Roses group over on facebook. I felt that this would be the easiest way, to have everything in one place that I can monitor for questions and comments. I always welcome all feedback, about sales, items, customs, and methods, so head on over and let me know what you think.

I'm offering the wildly popular messy bun hat (my own design,) a beautiful and practical hat done in gorgeous gradient yarn, a sweet and squishy jellyfish friend, headbands and ear-warmers with a hair tie cleverly engineered into the bottom to keep them in place, and some warm and cushy slippers for the whole family.

To top it all off, there is also a **BRAND NEW, TOTALLY EMPTY** customs list. First come, first served, so if you're wanting to custom order an item-- anything from dish cloths, to a beaded shawl, to a sweater, to an afghan-- make sure to get your order in quickly!

This Grand Reopening will be open from Sunday January 1 to Sunday January 8th, with payments due by Tuesday January 10th. Once this event is closed, I will not be taking any more custom orders for a while in order to get everything shipped in a timely manner, and then to get started on some Valentine's Day goodies. Come see all of the pretty stuff and get your order in for some delightful squishy goodness to start this year off on a positive note <3

Rows and Roses is now stitching up Surprise Packages! And who doesn't like surprises?
There will be a new theme each season, with maybe an extra holiday or other even thrown in. This is a GREAT way to receive fun hand-made items, for yourself and your family and friends. They also make great gifts. Now your gift drawer will never be empty.... unless you decide to keep all of this wonderful stuff for yourself. I won't tell ;)

Each package will contain 4-6 items, all centered around a theme. Our summer packages have already gone and out and been received, so I'll share them with you here.

~SUNFLOWERS~
This gorgeous Surprise package contained a set of 6 coasters, a dish cloth, a hot pad (my favorite!,) a bowl, and a cute little towel ring to hang on your oven handle.

< Hot pad
 < Dish cloth
 Coasters >
 Bowl >

And here's the set altogether. It really was a fantastic set of wonderful, summery kitchen stuff :)
The retail value on the packaged items came to $63, but the packages sold for $50, so that's a $13 savings!

Post-Fest Sale!

The Strawberry Fest has come and gone, and it was so much fun! Sarah, Cynthia and I had a blast hanging out, listening to live music, and connecting with other vendors. The kids had fun, too, watching a magic show and eating pizza :)

Of course, the kids didn't stay all day, but they sure made a valiant effort.

We sold lots of stuff, but still had lots of stuff left, so I'm offering everyone our "exclusive Strawberry Fest pricing" on everything! Yup, every single thing that did not sell at the fest is for sale NOW on my facebook page and in my group.

Go check out all the stuff! There are fun strawberry-themed items, as well as other stuff, including some of our best sellers- soap savers and key-ring lip balm cozies. There are a few shawls, some toys... really, something for everyone! Everything is going quick, so head on over while there's still stuff left.

Get your nest full of eggs!

It's that time again! Spring is around the corner and Easter is coming up. What better way to celebrate than with a pretty little nest full of eggs? They make a wonderful addition to any child's play kitchen, and they make a great centerpiece for your Springtime table. Delight your loved ones, big and little alike.

Each nest come with 5 palm-sized eggs, all made of 100% acrylic and filled with Poly-fil stuffing for a soft and springy bounce. Each egg will be a different color. Colors may vary from pictures, but all will be soft, shiny, shimmery pastels.
These sets retail for $20 each, but with the coop discount, they will only be $17. That is, unless we hit $1,000 ordered pre-discount, in which case they'll only be $16! And for the first time ever, there is NO LIMIT on how many sets you can order. Get a set for every sweet little loved one in your life (and maybe one for yourself!)

It's super-easy to order. First click and fill out this private database with your name, address, email, etc. This is the most important part. If I don't have your billing and mailing info, then I can't send you a nest with eggs! So make sure you DO THIS FIRST!

And then click on this spreadsheet and enter your order. Just find a column that doesn't already have someone's name in it, and there ya go :)

It's so easy! And before Easter delivery is guaranteed.
Please share this opportunity with your friends and family (unless you're surprising them with a nest full of eggs, of course!) Who wouldn't love to receive a little bit of handmade love this Spring?

*NEW PATTERNS*

Rows & Roses has just released some new crochet patterns in my Ravelry store! I've had a bunch of half-finished patterns languishing in my "drafts" section forever, so I've decided that this year I'm going to get them tested, finalized, and put up for sale. I'll try to have a new clutch of patterns available every couple of months this year. If you crochet, are wanting to take up crocheting, or have a friend or family member who crochets, please please please go check out my patterns. And spread the word for me!

First up is my famous and well-loved potholder. The Best Potholder You'll Ever Own, in fact. Made of 100% cotton, and folded double and seamed, this potholder can take the heat.

Then I got Leyla's stuff finished up, thanks to the best tester in the whole world (not to mention a pretty amazing friend) Sarah M. Thank you Sarah for all you do for me!

Leyla's Hat and the matching Leyla's Mitts are now up for sale.
Bulky yarn + big hook + simple stitches = quick and easy projects for everyone!

Then there's my Chakra Crystal Bowls pattern. I whipped these up for lovely Lisa of Reiki with Lisa B. so she would have some coordinating dishes to use for her crystal work. The yarn comes in such vibrant and saturated colors!

And of course my other patterns which were already in the store. Check them out, too:

And my best-selling pattern of all time, Maracas Bowls, set of 6

Thanks for looking! Please share on social media to spread the word so that others may see my patterns. The proceeds from Rows & Roses enable me to stay home and homeschool my kids, take care of our little homestead, pay bills, and help buy groceries. I'm so thankful for every customer and friend who helps support my business. I couldn't do it without you <3

FLASH sale happening now.

I've got my famous potholders up for sale in the facebook group today! These are the best potholders you'll ever own. I use mine to take cast iron out of a 450 degree oven, and have never had a problem with them getting too hot. They are double-thickness, made out of very tightly plied 100% cotton yarn, and they come in gorgeous colors! If you're in need of a good potholder, you better hurry and check it out: these are a favorite and will sell out fast!
